Took it to BMW Dealer - they put a new starter and battery on it and customer complained it made no difference and ask them to put old parts back on. which they did. Since I have had it it has taken no longer than 2-3 seconds but it is slow and laboured.

I have replace battery, starter, 1" spacer plate for the carburetor to minimize heat soaked. heat shield wraps for the starter as well. when it does start it only take one crank. any idea? would base timing or total timing have to do with it? Webb15 aug. 2012 · This morning again very slow cranking so I put the battery on charge and within 15mins it was fully charged - so am pretty certain that it's not the battery nor the alternator I have however ordered a new Denso alternator, just in case, as it was at a good price and also a new earth strap.
